In 1993, People Helping People began offering employment skills training to Department of Workforce Services clients whose welfare benefits were expiring. As word spread about the program, demand for training services increased. Through the generous support of our donors, PHP was able to expand the program to include all low-income women in the Salt Lake metropolitan area. In 2003 PHP narrowed its training focus to support the large number of low-income single mothers in our area. Mentoring and coaching services were implemented to help women transition to successful employment and self-sufficiency. PHP employs four staff and has about 50 volunteers. |
